McCarthy Painting has been painting homes and businesses in Mill Valley since 1969. The founder of McCarthy painting Fred McCarthy started his Painting contracting business here because of the beautiful area and the unique charm of Mill Valley's eclectic homes. No two homes in Mill Valley are alike and many homes have been remodeled and/or have had new additions added on to much older homes. This makes painting Mill Valley homes more challenging than house painting in other areas.
Exterior painting of Mill Valley homes can be particularly challenging because many homes can have different types of siding; from stucco to ship lap siding to very common (and popular) cedar shingles. And, many homes will have a combination of different sidings, each one with its own unique requirements for painting. This variety requires different types of finishes; stucco may need an elastomeric paint on three sides, while the front could be cedar or redwood shingles requiring staining with a transparent wood preservative (this enhances the beauty of the natural wood).
Interior painting in Mill Valley can also be a challenge with many homes having different wall surfaces to paint like sheet rock, plaster and wood paneling. Some of the older homes still have the original lath and plaster that requires special attention due to the many hair line cracks. There are also a lot of older Mill Valley homes with open wood beam ceilings that have never been painted but are now water stained, or just feel heavy, dark and out of date.
After over 38 years of painting in Mill Valley, we have developed a keen understanding and knowledge of Painting homes in Mill Valley.
